3-6 months+ Sensory Path
Gentle sensory exploration, supporting developing tactile, visual and auditory senses.

This sensory path is suitable for babies of all ages and is a gentle and child-led way to encourage sensory exploration.
Simply cut out some large tiles from cardboard, and stick materials of different textures on each to encourage development of the senses.
My sensory path included:
· Self-adhesive tiles which had raised and smooth parts to encourage development of the tactile sense.
· A piece of bath mat cut to size and taped down along the edges with Gorilla repair tape to prevent fraying (tactile sense).
· A DIY water mat made from a large sandwich bag filled ¼ full with water, a splash of baby oil, food colouring, sequins and other shapes. I squeezed the excess air out and then sealed the bag with Gorilla repair tape to prevent leaks. This provides a tactile and visual sensory experience, as well as an introduction to different temperatures as the water mat is naturally cool.
· A section of foil blanket, taped to the tile with Gorilla repair tape. This encourages development of visual, tactile and auditory senses, as well as an understanding of cause and effect as babies learn that their movements cause the blanket to make noise.
I taped each tile down with Frog tape to prevent movement.
